Real Estate Tips: Use Twitter To Promote Your Brand
So you’ve mastered Facebook but now you want to market your real estate brand via Twitter as well. If you’re new to social media however, you might not know that using Twitter is much different from Facebook. Read onward for tips on using Twitter as a real estate agent!
1. Tweet, and tweet often.
Twitter’s algorithm of how it shares content to users is different from Facebook. Facebook doesn’t allow your content to feed equally out to all your followers if your post more than once every two hours.
2. Retweet and favorite other peoples tweets!
Gotta give a little love to get a little love! Retweet your followers so they get familiar with your brand and might return the favor once you start tweeting your own content! How do you retweet you say? Click on the little recycling symbol looking option on your tweet. See our example below. Hit the little heart shaped button to “favorite” a tweet. It’s the equivalent of “liking” a post on Facebook.
3. Follow back!
Engaging with your network can you get real life connections, referrals and clients! If someone follows you on Twitter follow them back! They’ll be more likely to pay attention to the content you’re tweeting. Find the “Follow” button on the upper left hand corner of someone’s profile. See where we circled in red below? Click on that option to follow someone’s profile.
4. Tweet back!
Did someone tweet at you? Don’t stay silent, let them know you appreciate their attention to your brand! To tweet at someone, type out their handle in your tweet. That way they’ll receive a notification that you’re trying to contact them. See the arrow pointing to the left in our example below? That’s how you reply to someone.
5. Keep your ratios even
There’s a feature at the top of your Twitter profile that shows how many people are following you versus your followers. Now it may be tempting to follow every single real estate profile out there but you don’t want to be following WAY more than are following you. Keep your ratios similar if you can! This makes your brand seem more established. To see your ratio, look at your profile where it says “FOLLOWING” and “FOLLOWERS.” See our example below:
6. Have link backs to your website
If you send out a tweet, it’s best to always have a link. Whenever you can, make it a link back to your website. Whatever opportunity you can get, you should be getting your network back to your own website. Adding links and photos and such makes it more like for your followers to engage with your brand.
7. Make sure you use #hashtags
When you use the pound sign (#) in front of a word on Twitter it’s called a “hashtag.” Hashtags automatically becomes a link that individuals can click on and see all the other Tweets using that hashtag. It’s a great way to search for information on a particular subject within the Twitter website.
8. Use photos and video
Humans are visual! We appreciate a photo or video in social media because it helps us comprehend and pay attention to your content. At least include a photo in every tweet and a video every once in awhile.
